Watching Oprah: The Oprah Winfrey Show and American Culture

Homage To An American Icon

The first new exhibition in the temporary gallery at the NMAAHC, Watching Oprah explores Oprah Winfrey’s life, early career, and talk show, highlighting the impact she has had on American audiences.

Guests enter each gallery through an “O” shaped archway with custom graphics, encountering recreations of the Harpo Studios sign, as well as the Oprah Show stage itself! A 28-foot mural acts as the backdrop to the stage, listing every title of Oprah’s 4,561 shows with prominent episodes such as “You Get a Car” placed at prime viewing height.
