The First Ladies of Arkansas: Women of Their Times exhibit combines preservation of historic architecture – the original State Capitol building in Arkansas – with innovative design and interactive media to highlight the legacies of governors’ wives throughout the state’s history.
The gallery features a collection of gowns, shoes, and jewelry, belonging to each of Arkansas’ First Ladies in conjunction with video interviews that detail their achievements and efforts in the public sector. Large-scale interpretive graphics surround two 30 ft long display cases, contextualizing the largest collection of first ladies’ gowns outside the Smithsonian.
